Basement Tavern's New Menus, Low Country Boil, More!

SANTA MONICA— Basement Tavern, who recently retained Matthew Biancaniello on Thursdays and Sundays during brunch, rolls out a new food & drink menu, which features a hot link in a soft roll, a half-pound burger, housemade watermelon agua fresca, and a beer cocktail made with lime and blood orange juice. WEST THIRD— Son of a Gun is partnering with Imbibe Magazine and House Spirits Distillery to host a Low Country Boil and Cocktail Smash. The brunch even starts on August 10 at 12 p.m. and comes with oysters, salads, peel & eat shrimp, mussels, and a lobster roll. There's also cocktails like a pineapple-basil smash and more, all for $85 inclusive of tax and tip. Reservations can be made by calling the restaurant. [Eaterwire]

SANTA MONICA— There's yet another cronut knockoff, this time courtesy of Santa Monica's DK's Donuts is making the infamous creations from NY's Dominique Ansel's Bakery. Available daily at 6:30 a.m. [Thrillist]

ARTS DISTRICT— The Hot Knives are signing copies of their book, "Lust for Leaf," this Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the Poketo Store in Downtown's Arts District, with a demonstration on how to make "Booze Holes." Vegan baker Clara Cake will be on hand doling out vegan goodies. [Eaterwire]
