Craby Joe's, a dusty old dive in Downtown that closed back in 2008, is getting redone as Wendell Bar. Through a motion filed by city councilman Jose Huizar, Saeed Fazel Yekta will apply for a new liquor license to serve the space. This marks yet another old bar facelift for Downtown, following last year's remodel of King Eddy Saloon. There's still plenty of nostalgia for Craby Joe's, as seen in memoir forums such as this. But, Wendell Bar will no doubt manifest as a more gentrified haunt instead of the run down watering hole of years past. No word yet on the opening date.
