Chef Neal Fraser Favors Yai Thai in Hollywood

Los Angeles is home to a lot of restaurants, and among them are hidden gems some Angelenos just aren't unearthing. To help guide us to these potential discoveries, we've enlisted some of our city's many food luminaries to share with us their under the radar recommendations for Dining Confidential.

Chef Neal Fraser has a full plate, between the launch of Fritzi Dog last fall, and both ICDC (with wife Amy Knoll Fraser plus pastry chef Mariah Swan) and Redbird, which have wheels in motion. But that's not to say he doesn't have time for a quick bite at a standout hole-in-the-wall. Here now Fraser on Yai Thai in Hollywood:

My favorite hidden gem is Yai Thai in Hollywood. A place I have been going to for years. I always order the same dish and usually go alone so I don't have to share. I order the duck with chili and garlic and a side of sticky rice. This dish to me embodies what is great about thai food. Salt, fat, chili, and great rice. I order the duck mild which is still pretty spicy. The medium spicy is real spicy. Yai is in a strip mall on hollywood boulevard next to 7-11. Cash only. There is an atm in the 7-11.
