The quaint French cafe Etchea Bakery is prepping for a launch sometime next week as workers put together the final interior and exterior finishes. This is the second bakery following the first which landed on South Figueroa in early August. Founded by John Baptiste Garacochea (Pioneer Bakery), Linda Griego (Engine No. 28), and Christine Splichal (Patina Group), Etchea Bakery on S. Hope should be a welcome spot for locals looking for simple, rustic food at a pretty reasonable price.

Chef Laurent Quenioux (Vertical Wine Bar) is behind the Basque-style menu, featuring dishes like egg piperade sandwiches; petite quiches; basquaise salad with tuna, onions, garbanzo, and hardboiled egg; and roasted chicken sandwiches. As for baked goods, there's freshly delivered pastries from Etxea Bakery in Hawthorne, like croissants, muffins, bread, and financiers. The space holds 50 seats and will serve from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
