SILVER LAKE— After opening, closing, then relaunching with a beer and wine license, W. Sunset Boulevard's Black Hogg has found its footing and chef Eric Park is ready to lunch. Titled "Sopressata at Black Hogg," the lunch menu here differs from Park's small plate dinner list with an emphasis on Italian sandwiches. Also, anyone who drops in this week for dinner will receive a gift card for a freebie sandwich. Lunch kicks off August 13. [EaterWire]
LOS ANGELES— Here's a list of Jonathan Gold's favorite Los Angeles burgers, which hail from The Apple Pan, Aroma Cafe, Chroni's Famous Sandwich Shop, Comme Ça, Connie & Ted's, Cora's Coffee Shoppe, Father's Office, Pie 'n Burger, Plan Check, and the Spice Table. [LAT]
SANTA MONICA— Rita's Italian ice continues its seaside expansion with a small Main Street shop opening August 12. On Monday and Tuesday come by for gratis cups of Italian ice. [EaterWire]
WEST HOLLYWOOD— Bar Marmont is going Cantina Marmont from August 13 to 15. Chef Carolynn Spence is still working on her Mexican spiced menu, but so far she's considering Soft Shell Crab & Cotija Squash Blossoms, Oxtail Taquitos, and Sweet Corn Battered Fish Tacos. See all her thoughts, which involve Horchata Frozen Custard, below.
