BLT Steak celebrated its West Hollywood launch back in 2008 with a splashy chef-studded opening, and for years thereafter served as a power dining spot and one of the better restaurants around Sunset Plaza. But, in the last few years BLT Steak has simply fallen off the Los Angeles dining map. Popovers and all. It certainly didn't help that BLT's namesake chef, Laurent Tourondel, split from business partner Jimmy Haber (ESquared Hospitality) in 2010, although last year they reached an agreement about licensing the BLT name. Quite frankly it's no surprise that the restaurant ceased existence as of July 30. A BLT voicemail message states: "After a successful five year run BLT Steak has closed ... we'll have new updates to share soon including a new development in the old BLT space..." Facebook indicates a new eatery is underway, too.
