As expected from early signage, Sweet Rose Creamery on Pico in Santa Monica is more than just a cutesy shop (with a 1,000 square foot freezer!) selling seasonal, small batch ice cream. Reps for the cafe, which opens September 21, call it a "workshop and retail space," where co-owner and chef Shiho Yoshikawa will develop new frozen desserts and ice cream flavors, some of which will transfer over to Sweet Rose at the Brentwood Country Mart, while others will remain unique to this location.
Sure, the seasonal ice cream flavors made popular in Brentwood will be on offer here as well, but also expect soft serve ice cream, sweet and savory pastries from sister establishment Milo & Olive, plus coffee beverages by Caffe Luxxe (located next-door to the original Sweet Rose). The Sweet Rose team is also working on a line of fresh and frozen yogurt, but that won't roll out until after launch.
