Del Rey Kitchen Serves Hamburg Steak, Cod Roe Pasta, More

Just last week was news of Del Rey Kitchen's takeover of an old pizzeria in the sleepy community of Del Rey, in between Culver City and Playa Del Rey. Michael Yee and chef Satoru Yokomori have taken the best parts of Kenji Minamida's now-closed Sawtelle Kitchen, including some kitchen staff and even some classic dishes. Rumor was that the old-time chef Minamida was involved, but he's not involved except for giving the younger duo his blessing.

As for the bill of fare, expect a great take on hamburg steak (think of a Salisbury steak doused with rich demi-glace, with optional fried egg), tofu steak, and spicy mentaiko (cod roe) pasta, as well as some new takes on Sawtelle Kitchen favorites. When they obtain a beer & wine license in coming weeks, they'll start offering a more expansive izakaya-style menu. Lunch & take-out is also planned in the near future. Current hours are 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday.
