With the finishing touches going in late last week, budding Korean chain Doni Burger opened its first Los Angeles outlet on the third floor of a large retail mall at the corner of Western and 6th over the weekend. Fronted by celebrity Jung Hyung-Don, the franchise is named after the actor's nickname on TV. The setup is similar to an upscale McDonald's: casual quick service with prices hovering around $4 to $7 for burgers, depending on toppings like bulgogi. That's actually much cheaper than the 10,000 Korean won price for these burgers in Korea, but one explanation might be the prevalence of inexpensive beef in the U.S. The full menu (prices in Korean won) is available here, though at the moment only burgers and fries seem to be served.
