Peanut Butter Soft Serve, Malted Milkshakes, Caffe Luxxe Brews For Sale on Saturday at Sweet Rose Creamery Pico

Restaurateur Josh Loeb and wife/baking queen Zoe Nathan have a good thing going. Their set of seasonal Santa Monica staples — Rustic Canyon, Milo & Olive, Huckleberry, and Sweet Rose Creamery — attract lines longer than most westside dining attractions. And Sweet Rose Creamery, a joint venture with ice cream whiz Shiho Yoshikawa at the Brentwood Country Mart, is no exception. So, it's not a surprise to see them expand their small batch ice cream company to a new, larger storefront on a mostly deserted stretch of Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica on Saturday. And don't forget, Beverly Boulevard is up next.

Sweet Rose on Pico looks rather similar to the three plus year old shop in the Brentwood Country Mart, just bigger. That's because here the team is also brewing Caffe Luxxe coffee (which means affogatos!) and selling Zoe's baked goods made popular at Huckleberry and Milo & Olive. So, one can swing by for breakfast in the morning and ice cream in the afternoon.

And speaking of ice cream, just like in Brentwood, there's a chalkboard listing ice cream flavors du jour. To start one will find seasonal additions like lemon verbena and farmers market strawberry, plum sorbet (dairy free), and newly added soft serve in peanut butter and Kyoho grape (similar to Concord). This here location will also serve as an ice cream lab for Yoshikawa, with fun flavors and new frozen creations going forward.
