Jason Mattick was the chef at Milo & Olive prior to newer Cube import Erin Eastland, but since decamping Mattick has teamed up with partner Scott Hindell for Mongrel, a pop-up. They're taking over Canelé in Atwater Village the first Monday of each month beginning October 7, and Mattick describes his menu as "a travel through the Middle East." For $25/head patrons score starters plus an entree like spicy meatballs in tomato sauce with bulgar, zucchini, pistachios, and green coriander. Sides (broccoli with tahini, yogurt, caramelized pine nuts) and dessert (pistachio cake with rose water syrup and passion fruit) are $6-$7 extra. [ELA]
