Now that Victor Drai's camp has confirmed the imminent sear of Rare steakhouse in West Hollywood, it appears Drai will, in fact, shift all of his Los Angeles operations to the Sunset Boulevard space, formerly BLT Steak. Sources close to Drai say that the nightlife operator will shutter his eponymous rooftop club at the W Hotel, Drai's Hollywood, by Halloween at the latest. Meanwhile, the new WeHo project is on track to open November 1. The kitchen will be helmed by former Botero (Encore Las Vegas) and Drai's Hollywood chef Patrick Florendo.
Although Rare is a partnership with ESquared Hospitality, which owns BLT, Drai will have complete creative control and is also planning to add an invite-only subterranean lounge beneath the restaurant with bottle service and such. Perhaps something like this.
