Coffee, sweets, and L.A. eats are what's to be found inside Crème Caramel LA, a small custard-centered dessertery launching September 9 in Sherman Oaks. Baker Kristine de la Cruz got her start vending flavored cooked custards a few years back at local farmers markets and since then she has expanded her product line, both sweet and savory, to include pastries plus breakfast and lunch fare. Think Spanish tortilla potato omelet, Chinese sausage and scallion biscuits, and salted caramel scones. For lunch she's offering BenTea Boxes, which is basically a bento box/high tea mashup wherein boxes are filled with seasonal sandwiches like fig, caramelized onion jam, goat cheese, arugula; and steamed egg crêpe plus green onions and spam.
Unicorn Poop. Yes, that's happening. A house-made meringue dusted with rainbow sugar, which De La Cruz is adding to BenTea Boxes for kids.

Remember, this is also a "mini artisanal urban bodega," selling locally made foodstuffs from Coldwater Canyon Provisions, Mother Moo Creamery, Nuttin' Butter, among others. To cut all the sweet, there's Cafecito Organico coffee, and Filipino-inspired agua frescas.

Stop by during the grand launch for comp samples. Free parking in the back.
