SANTA MONICA— A Cut Above, the new and much needed butcher shop on Santa Monica Boulevard, is slightly delayed. Owner Eddy Shin is now hoping to start slicing at the end of September, but from the picture over right, the place is still coming together. [EaterWire]

WEST LA— As of Monday, Freddy Smalls on Pico is launching a late night dining deal from 10 p.m. to close Monday to Wednesday and from 11 p.m. to close on Friday and Saturday. For $20 drop in to try an off-menu special plate (will change weekly) plus a beer and a shot. Next week's dish is a fried chicken sandwich with house-made potato chips. [EaterWire]
