Cavatina's Menu; Eats at Ace Hotel's LA Chapter

WEHO— After a slow soft launch, last night Cavatina — the new signature restaurant at Sunset Marquis by Boston chef Michael Schlow — opened for its first official night of dinner service. White the property's outdoor dining deck hasn't changed, management is in the process of revamped the dated interior dining room. Over right, check out Schlow's New American menu and note the pièce de résistance here is the umami-packed burger, which is topped with a mess of crispy onion strings and a zippy horseradish black pepper sauce. For dessert the move is fresh, gooey chocolate chip cookies and a banana-chocolate-Nutella shake. [EaterWire]

WEHO— How well do cronuts travel from Soho to Los Angeles? Per Gawker, "soggy" cronuts and Dom were served at the Chateau's recent W Magazine Golden Globes party. [Gawker]

DOWNTOWN— Ready to try LA Chapter at the hippity new Ace Hotel? Daily Dish caught up with chef Ken Addington (Five Leaves, Brooklyn) who reveals a bunch of plates like malted buckwheat waffles, grilled octopus with pistachio puree, and sea urchin chitarra. LA Chapter's bar is helmed by Five Leaves barman Dan Sabo and his menu is divided by the amount of booze each drink contains. Example: Ghostlight, which calls for rye whiskey, cardamom spice syrup and Angostura and cherry bark bitters. LA Chapter debuts Jan 17. [LAT]
