For years chef Michael Fiorelli has been just out of reach for Angelenos, running the kitchen at mar'sel within Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes, churning out fantastic seasonal New American plates. He's been wanting to do his own thing for a while, originally thinking a hot dog cart was the way to go. But, Fiorelli has bigger aspirations now and that previously mentioned Manhattan Beach project is a go.
Fiorelli is partnering with Guy Gabrielle and his daughter Sylvie of Manhattan Beach's long established Cafe Pierre. As some night recall, Guy handed over the reins to Sylvie about a year ago. The plan is to shutter Cafe Pierre, a beach fixture for almost forty years (!), renovate, and launch a "neighborhood Italian restaurant in the style of Los Angeles dining," says Fiorelli. No name yet but they're looking to open this spring. Exciting.
Manhattan Beach is undergoing a dining renaissance, with an infusion of culinary talent thanks to chef David LeFevre and his contributions of MB Post and Fishing with Dynamite, but also Little Sister, Pitfire Pizza, and now this.
