LA Weekly has renamed its annual food and drink event from the Gold Standard to The Essentials, and since Jonathan Gold won't be curating the list of participating eateries, LA Weekly "food writers" will. It's all going down on March 9 at LA Mart in Downtown from noon to 5 p.m. Thus far some of the participating eateries are Animal, Bestia, Bucato, Chi Spacca, Hinoki & the Bird, Jitlada, Kogi, Sotto and Sqirl.
