The shaved ice trend is causing a storm right as the weather gets inexplicably hot, with SnowLA recently emerging in Koreatown and New York Snow hitting Highland Park. Meanwhile in Westwood, shaved ice chain Chilly Ribbons finally soft opened last week after a lengthy build out, offering Yogurtland-style self-serve shaved ice with flavor stations and a topping bar. Bowls are priced out by weight, creating a choose-your-own adventure type shavery experience.

Offering as many as forty flavors, Chilly Ribbons is the ideal warm weather snack for Westwood cubicle dwellers and UCLA students. Right now, the soft opening hours are 12-8 p.m., but eventually hours will run from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. on weekdays and until 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
