Now on to their third ice creamery, which opened today at 8 a.m., Josh Loeb and wife Zoe Nathan (Rustic Canyon, Huckleberry, Milo & Olive) plus ice cream whiz Shiho Yoshikawa have a winning recipe on their hands. Right now that recipe tastes like cognac prune, malted chocolate, and will always taste like fresh mint chip and salted caramel.
What started as a sliver of an old school, small batch ice cream shop at the Brentwood Country Mart almost four years ago has matured into a small cafe serving a short list of signature ice cream flavors, in addition to a handful of flavors that change based on seasonal ingredients. With the recent onset of Sweet Rose Pico, local specialty coffee chainlet Caffe Luxxe came onboard to sell espresso drinks, in addition to Nathan's baked goods from Milo & Olive.
And for the first time ever, the westside-based restaurant operators have a non-westside business, designed by Montalba Architects and landing on Beverly right next door to George Abou-Daoud's relocated Urban Garden. Sweet Rose Beverly is filled with WAY more seatage than its prior two locations, and hopefully the larger space and added employees will shorten lines.
