Welcome to Pellicola Pizzeria, Cedd Moses' (Cole's The Varnish, Las Perlas) smartly designed new pizza place opened in collaboration with pizzaiolo consultant Giulio Adriani of hit New York pizza chainlet Forcella. Previously home to D-Town Burger Bar, the 1,400 square foot eatery feels new, old, and industrial thanks to exposed brick, original penny tile flooring, and an open kitchen covered with white subway tile and beams of American White Oak.
"Pellicola" translates to "film" in Italian and the restaurant's logo was inspired by Fellini's 1973 Italian comedy-drama, Armacord. And following the film theme, Pellicola will project black and white Italian movies during service.
Note, while Adriani is known for his Neapolitan pies in New York, here in Los Angeles he's making Italian-style versions of New York pizza but not full on Neapolitan pies. And being that this is Los Angeles, expect locally sourced quality ingredients. Pellicola Pizzeria is presently soft open daily from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. Lunch to follow.
