Yes! Irv's Burger has settled into a new West Hollywood haunt just five blocks east of its original turf at Santa Monica and Sweetzer, replacing Biscuit Cafe at 7998 Santa Monica Blvd. Route 66 reports that Irv's reopened a week ago and owner Sonia Hong is back to personalizing customers' bags.
Phew. That was a close call. After 63 years at its initial stand space and designated cultural landmark, Hong was forced to shutter this fall when her landlord raised rent. Restaurant designer Thomas Schoos (he's doing the aesthetic at Brian Malarkey's imminent Herringbone at the Mondrian) is expected to open a cafe called Beach Nation in its place.
