Faith & Flower, the first Los Angeles restaurant for Coastal Luxury Management's David Bernahl and Rob Weakley (the team behind LA Food & Wine and Pebble Beach Food & Wine), is nearing completion to open next month in the spacious old Towne expanse on 9th Street between Flower and Figueroa Downtown.
Heading up their farm-to-table menu is chef Michael Hung who lead the Red Sparrow pop-up in San Francisco and served as chef de cuisine at Roland Passot's SF Chron four star and one Michelin star La Folie. Ben Spungin, corporate pastry chef for CLM and Faith & Flower, has worked at the French Laundry and at Bernardus Lodge in Carmel Valley, CA.
"Lead Mixologist" Michael Lay lands in Los Angeles by way of Restaurant 1833 in Monterey, which is also owned by the CLM group. Finally, GM David Ficklen left the IDG clan of Delphine, Boa, Sushi Roku to join Faith & Flower.
The 140-seat eatery, inspired by LA's renaissance periods both today and in the early 1900s, should open in the near future. Expect California cuisine influenced by LA's multi-cultural landscape, with flavors from Asia, Latin America, the Mediterranean, and North Africa. Small plates and whole roasts prepared in the restaurant's wood-fired oven.
