Malarkey Shutters Two Restos; GEN KBBQ to Cerritos

WEST HOLLYWOOD/SAN DIEGO—As one restaurant opens, another two sign out. Chef Brian Malarkey's San Diego-based Herringbone is a few days away from opening within the Mondrian on Sunset, but his Point Loma eatery Gabardine and the Scottsdale, Arizona branch of Searsucker are officially donzo. DOWNTOWN—Smashburger and Live Basil, two of the three chains replacing the shuttered ESPN Zone at LA Live, are prepped to debut on January 21. Tom's Urban 24 should open in February. [EaterWire]
