Amy Scattergood Jumps From LA Weekly to LA Times as New Deputy Food Editor

LA Weekly food editor Amy Scattergood is headed for The Times.

Rumor-y ripples have slowly started turning into waves of information about the departure of longtime deputy food editor Betty Hallock from the Los Angeles Times. Her last post was on October 7, and Ed Padgett's Pressmens Club blog posted a missive on October 11 that seems to be Hallock's final internal farewell. Even her recently-updated Times bio now indicates the departure.

So what's to become of the opening downtown? Apparently it's going to be manned by none other than Amy Scattergood, the five-year leader of LA Weekly's food section. Following the return of Jonathan Gold to the Times back in 2012, it appears that Scattergood is making for a reunion of sorts, fitting neatly into Hallock's role but bringing with her years of expertise in running the Weekly's day-to-day Squid Ink blog.

Perhaps even more interestingly for media-heads, LA Weekly Editor in Chief Sarah Fenske is headed out of town completely, taking over as Director of Digital Content for Feast Magazine in St. Louis.

No official word yet on any organizational changes or new hires at the Weekly.
