Prime Pizza, A Perfect New Slice Joint on Fairfax from The Golden State Crew

New, 6 comments

Taking cues from popular slice joints in New York, the Golden State guys open a handy pizza shop on Fairfax.

Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

Damiano lived for decades on Fairfax, with diminishing quality over the years. Well, Prime Pizza is here to take its place for the better on this ever-crowded retail stretch. Jason Bernstein, James Starr and Zack Fishman quietly opened the slice-driven pizzeria this week (though the official opening is tomorrow), offering New York style thin crust pizzas. So far the early chatter has been positive, with slices starting at $2.50 and whole pies at $18.

In addition to pizza, consider the addictive garlic knots or a chopped salad, because you know, greens are a healthy part of a balanced diet. In a few weeks, they'll also be launching gluten-free chicken wings, including buffalo and thai flavorings. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 12 to 10 p.m. with delivery and late night service starting soon, in perhaps a month.
