Sure to be a power lunch and dinner spot in West Hollywood, Akira Back's Yellowtail is debuting on Sunset Strip on October 24. With a perch overlooking the rest of Los Angeles, this multi-tiered restaurant has all the makings of an instant classic. Back takes a Nobu-esque approach to Japanese cuisine, though with a bit more fun on the ingredient side.
Think lobster carpaccio, Jeju Island (just off Korea) red snapper with chojang sauce. Back has a deft had to saucing things perfectly and using pristine ingredients from the around the world, letting seafood and meats speak for themselves in the process.
The former Mirabelle's sadly been scrubbed away, but the first glimpse inside reveals a wide dining room and an open bar area - all the better for easy socializing on this part of the Strip. Find warm wood paneling, plush banquettes, and plenty of earth tones all around. Go further toward the back and see a partially open balcony that soaks in some of the gorgeous sun. Or abscond upstairs where the lofty view gives an even better look of the flatlands below. In coordination with LORE group and Light Group, Yellowtail Sunset's adds yet another slick scene to this part of Sunset Strip.
After it open, hours will run 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily.
