Ocean Prime, A Sharp New Power Dining Hall in Beverly Hills

New, 7 comments

Cameron Mitchell has a slew of restaurants across the Midwest and East Coast, but this is his first venture into the heart of the Golden Triangle.

Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

Beverly Hills already has plenty of place for the elite and power brokers to wheel and deal, but one more just couldn't hurt, right? That's where Ocean Prime steps in starting October 28, right into the former El Torito space on Wilshire Blvd in the heart of 90210's Golden Triangle. This dining room just screams power lunch, and perhaps even dinner, where the movers and shakers in Hollywood are sure to negotiate the fate of starlets across the silver screen.

Cameron Mitchell is the restaurateur behind this venture, with a bevy of solid concepts build across states like Ohio and Florida. Executive chef Matt Briggs and GM Stephen Cook helm the operation at this western outpost, where fresh seafood, prime steaks, and stolid approach to top quality ingredients produces a predictable but worthwhile selection of dishes. A massive space of 350 seats across over 11,000 square feet, it's poised to take away some of Mastro's dominance. Oddly, like some Houston's locations, Ocean Prime will also serve sushi, because this is still Hollywood and these producers need their tuna rolls.

As for design, which is done by ICRAVE, find plenty of strong lines and angles, a definitely masculine touch with some lighter accents by artists Jordan Clark, Lola Dupré, and Jenny Sharaf.

Hours run 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, 5 to 11:30 p.m. on weekends. Happy hour goes from 4 to 7 p.m. on weekdays.
