Wokcano Team Drops Triple 8 Casual Cantonese on Downtown's L.A. Live This December

The folks behind Wokcano and Spear are adding a casual Cantonese restaurant to bustling L.A. Live.

Looks like there's finally a new tenant slated for the old Trader Vic's space downtown at L.A. Live. The M2K Group, those folks behind Wokcano, EMC Seafood and the recently-swapped-in Spear Steak & Seafood House, are bringing a new concept known as Triple 8 China Bar & Grill, per LA Downtown News.

M2K's Kerry Moy and Michael Kwan plan to bring real Cantonese flavors to this touristy part of downtown, but with a much more casual feel. That means simple indoor-outdoor seating and plenty of sports bar elements, given the proximity to Staples Center. As for the Cantonese food, look for occasional dim sum classics like bao buns, dumplings and even Peking duck, but nothing that's going to turn away the out-of-towners. This is still L.A. live after all.

Expect a soft opening in December with an all-day breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, including eventual late night service for games that get out after 11 p.m.
