Gjelina's bakery, with the unusual name of Gjusta, finally opened this morning to a sleepy Venice at 7 a.m., offering pastries, breads, smoked salmon on hearty seed bread, sandwiches, and even cheeses. In development for months, this operation is headed by Greg Blanc.

G&B Coffee is lending a hand with the coffee program, which will be one of the best on the block, while Dagny Mendelsohn, formerly at Flores, is helping out as well. Until then, details are scarce, so if you live over near Abbot Kinney or Venice, stop by for an early look.
