The One Up, A New Bar/Arcade Now Gaming Up Sherman Oaks

New, 4 comments

It's finally okay to have fun in bars again after an era of stuffy speakeasies. Video games always helps the cause.

Sherman Oaks isn't just becoming a great neighborhood filled with places to eat and drink, it's becoming a legitimate destination for anyone living north of that section of the lower Valley. Heck, it's becoming worth a trek for people on the Westside and in the Hollywood Hills. And this newest bar/arcade called The One Up (No affiliation with the well-known Denver chain) is now open on Ventura Blvd.

Featuring a interior straight from the 80's (but a little cleaned up), enjoy a selection of bar bites like sweet corn hushpuppies, fried chicken banh mi, or mini corn dogs. Wash it down with some fine game-friendly cocktails like a Sadie Hawkins, sporting vodka, blueberries and lavender. And enjoy a ton of vertical arcade games from your childhood, like Pac-Man and Super Cobra. There's even horizontal games (perfect for dates) like Mario Brothers. And don't worry, the games are completely free for customers, so leave the quarters for your laundry and street parking.
