Santa Monica gets one more charmer of a restaurant in Cadet, the new French countryside-inspired eatery from Jeff Weinstein (The Counter, Freddy Smalls) and Kris Tominaga (The Hart + The Hunter). With a sweeping new dining room designed by Nicole Gordon Studio, mismatched chairs, exposed brick, and comfy round banquettes, it's a bit of old and new placed together.

Log piles reveal the semi-open wood-fired grill that will warm the place up, as well as cook up the bulk of the menu, from clay pot octopus and head-on shrimp basted with chive butter to pork collar and dungeness crab. Take a look around, check out the rather stylish menu, and get ready for Cadet's November 1 debut.
