Prova Pizzeria, A New Slice Joint Baking Soon in West Hollywood

Taking over the old Pizza Joint on Santa Monica Blvd.

Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

Though the Pizza Joint was a beloved local slice place in West Hollywood, it closed last year without much hubbub. Taking its place is Prova Pizzeria, an operation by Jake Ireland that will be helmed in the kitchen by Vito Iacopelli, who set up Michael's Pizzeria in Long Beach. With an opening scheduled for early December, the new eatery will feature salads, house-made dishes, and a 100 year old pizza recipe straight from Italy. So instead of more of the New York-style slices, expect something more in line with Neapolitan-style.
