Things are always on the move in LA's restaurant industry. Closures result in partners going their own ways while new projects mean compelling new mash ups. This time, it's Red Medicine's Noah Ellis (the one responsible for outing LA Times critic S. Irene Virbila, now consultant at Hutchinson) and American Gonzo Corp's Paul Hibler, who co-founded Pitfire Pizza, Superba Snack Bar, and Superba Food + Bread.
The duo is currently working on a food emporium at the upcoming in the formerL'Epicerie space on the corner of Culver Blvd and Duquesne. This ABC listingshows North Beach Grocery as a possible dba, which makes sense it lived its former live as a grab and go type eatery. L'Epicerie was Thierry Perez's last project before doing a brief stint in Manhattan Beach with Mark Gold.
At the moment, there are no further details on the project, with calls and emails to Hibler gone unanswered, but look to a relatively quick transformation since the space was already built out for food service.
