Chef Akasha Richmond, who once cooked as a private chef for Michael Jackson, is expanding her restaurant empire in Culver City. Taking over the former Ford's Filling Station, just a few doors from her current eatery, Akasha, Richmond is hoping to open an Indian-inspired concept with a working title of Spice Box Kitchen some time in spring of 2015, reports Daily Dish.
According to the post, Richmond's been wanting to do an Indian concept for years, though it won't be a strictly curry-and-naan kind of place. They'll make everything from snacks, dosas and chaats to salads because, "it's California." Akasha's been a faithful every day restaurant for Culver City denizens, but this new Indian restaurant adds a spicy new concept to the block, which lost gastropub pioneer Ford's Filling Station earlier this year. Richmond will keep the bones of the restaurant, but will strip the interior to change the ambiance.
