It's been a little dry for fans of Matthew Biancaniello, who's been pioneering hyper seasonal and local ingredients for his ingredient-driven (versus spirits-driven) bartending style. Though he helmed the counter at Library Bar at the Roosevelt for nearly four years, he's been a bit of a ronin lately, trying to juggle twin boys and searching for the ideal location for his unique vision. In the meantime, he's been writing a book called Eat Your Drink and putting time at Cliff's Edge's bar.
The first events happen at the Cook's Garden in Venice inside Willie Jane on Abbot Kinney, where on October 15, November 12 and December 10, Biancaniello is making drinks for a garden craft cocktail party. The $58 dollar ticket includes small bites and two drink tickets. Pick up entry at Willie Jane or here.
Come November, he's involved with two events where you can find him making those produce-driven drinks. The first is called How Dry, a cocktail party for drought awareness (how apropos) on November 2, with everyone from Ari Taymor, Rose Lawrence (Red Bread), Daniel Mattern and Roxanna Jullapat (Cook's County), Bruce Kalman (Union), Valerie Gordon (Valerie), and Belcampo Meat Co. will be preparing delectable bites. Spirits come via local distillery Greenbar Collective, where a paltry $37.50 donation that includes one drink, six food tickets, and admission for one. The event takes place at Greenbar Craft Distillery in Downtown.
