Berlin Currywurst had a relatively quiet life on Fairfax, only to succumb to a slow demise. In its stead comes Kaya Street Kitchen, a grassroots Asian fusion joint that will feature rice bowls, wraps, and tacos. Construction seems be coming along quickly, with an opening slated for December 2014.

On the menu will be a slew of Southeast-Asian ingredients and flavors (not unlike Chipotle's ShopHouse), with a bit more focus on the health-oriented nature of the fare. Cuisine influences will come from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore, all of which carry plenty of bold curries, chilies, and peppers. The interior will boast bright orange and blue hues, a departure from the darker confines inside Berlin Currywurst. Will Fairfax take on to this new concept better than its former tenant?
