Chef Warren Schwartz Out as The Front Yard Takes Over Warren's Blackboard

The Valley loses a quality chef to make way for an approachable concept

Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

Warren Schwartz, who helped found the populist menu at Westside Tavern, and recently created a holdover restaurant called Warren's Blackboard inside The Garland Hotel in North Hollywood, is now out of the project. Though Warren's Blackboard was supposed to make way for a more permanent concept, the space will now become The Front Yard, which is slated to open in March 2015. No word on what that concept will be except that it will be "approachable and shareable." Until then, guests can still have food and drinks in the lobby, as well as their Courtyard Canteen.
