In a shopping center on the corner of Rose and Lincoln, Google-challenged Banh Mí Venice has opened its doors. The eatery is a family-owned endeavor with a creative spin on the Vietnamese banh mí sandwich with locally sourced ingredients. The interior design comes from Tatiana Barhar of Verdego.

All sandwiches are served with pickled daikon, carrots, cucumbers, fresh cilantro and jalapeño. In addition, the baguettes are baked fresh daily and the sandwich either has a house-made chili mayo or a country pâté spread.

The Oink Mí is their most traditional banh mí and includes caramelized pork belly, shallots and garlic with the country pâté spread. Another option is the Moo Mí, which contains braised short rib, chili paste, lemongrass, ginger and the house-made chili mayo. Finish it off with a Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk. The menu can be found on their Facebook page.

With prices ranging from $5 to $13, and healthy vegetarian options, there's something for everyone. The banh mí can also be taken to go, nicely wrapped with their logo and twine, for those in a rush. Hours are 11am to 9pm Monday to Sunday.
