Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

It's been known that Red Medicine's closure came as a result of a sale of the business to another party, who was planning to take over the Beverly Hills restaurant after Jordan Kahn's creative concept vacated the space.

In goes The Flats, from Kyle Schutte, who was last seen on Melrose trying to revive the menu at the short-lived Roadhouse LA. He's partnering with Emily Mura-Smith, a TV producer and actor from MTV's Undressed series back in the 90s, who's more recently been a manager at Barsac Brasserie and Fabio Vibiani's Firenze Osteria. Not much else is known at this point, but the ABC listing does prove the duo's involvement with the new restaurant.
