Tacoteca Brings Bold Mexican Flavors and Plenty of Cocktails to Santa Monica on Monday

New, 2 comments

AdVantage Partners and Ricardo Diaz team up for some Westside Mexican food love.

You've already seen the menu, and you know the men behind the venture — that'd be Ricardo Diaz, of Guisados/Colonia Taco Lounge/Cook's Tortas fame, and Adam Fleischman from Umami/AdVantage Partners. Now it's time to get a look inside Santa Monica's latest dining addition: Tacoteca.

It didn't take long for the team to tackle the former Charleston space on Wilshire Blvd., bringing wood accents to the forefront and letting the otherwise clean space pop with kitschy color from hanging art. Interesting textures in the booths that line the main room help to round out the feel of the place, though most everyone's eyes will be on the bar.

That's where cocktail wunderkind Gilbert Marquez will be slinging mezcal libations to waiting customers. The 27-year old has helped to fully stock the shelves with hard-to-find bottles, though Diaz's own preference for craft beer is well-known, so expect plenty on the menu as well.

After a few rounds of under-the-radar dinners, Tacoteca is now ready to serve the general public, beginning tomorrow night Monday at 5 p.m.
