Hannah An's first solo venture is a colonial era-inspired two level Vietnamese restaurant scheduled for January.

Details are beginning to shape up about that on-again-off-again possible House of An concept along West 3rd, in the old Duplex space. Initially rumored to be a second home to Beverly Hills’ Crustacean under founder/matriarch Helene An, the restaurant was quickly discovered to actually be an offshoot venture by Hannah An herself, without any House of An attachment whatsoever.

Now comes word on concept and name, as Hannah An continues to build out the sizable space. Dubbed The District by Hannah An, the two-story restaurant is being redone in the image of Hanoi’s Parisian-inflected past during colonial rule. The menu will be decidedly Vietnamese, of course, with modern touches to help keep the old world flavors more relevant. Look for a copious use of local produce and ingredients as well — particularly seafood — to add a touch of California flair.

Add in free-flowing wine and a penchant for hospitality, and An’s The District by Hannah An seems to be in a great position to help gobble up some of the power lunch business that’s so prevalent in the area. More details as they come, but look for an early January opening of The District, with some possible soft-open dates in advance of an official roll out.
