Changes Brewing as Beau Laughlin Joins Joe's Restaurant as Partner

New, 2 comments

Joe's Restaurant in Venice will likely get a new identity.

Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

Yesterday, Eater broke the news that Beau Laughlin would take over Joe's Restaurant in Venice. However, there's a bit more nuance: Beau Laughlin, just off the heels of a departure from soon-to-be-defunct Cardiff Giant, is coming on as a partner with current chef and owner Joe Miller at the Abbot Kinney institution.

The 23 year old eatery will continue to operate until the end of the year, as noted in the comments section, but with Laughlin coming online as an additional voice in the concept, Joe's as it is will likely see some major changes, from everything to a new menu to a new name.

Nothing is set in stone right now, though sources do say that the ownership transfer at Joe's Restaurant to a Laughlin-controlled group is still currently in progress. For the immediate future, Joe's fans will have a few more weeks to enjoy the farmers market-driven restaurant that they knew before changes come.
