Viet Noodle Bar, which has a minimalist eatery in Atwater Village, has completed its first expansion to the Westside, which takes over the old Bite Bar and Bakery on Pico Blvd. Sporting a friendly menu of Vietnamese comfort fare, expect dishes like pho ga (chicken pho), vegetarian pho using tofu and shiitake mushrooms, as well as lemongrass beef noodles.

Everything tends to hover around $10, though the pho bowls can hit $11.25 because they're based on organic chicken. Those looking for something on the go can try the banh mi, using fish, chicken, or even spicy sardines. Diners who want to stick around for a longer meal can enjoy a glass of beer, sake or wine at this location, making Viet Noodle Bar one of the more budget-friendly spots in Santa Monica. Toddrickallenreports that hours run 11 a.m. to 10 pm. daily.
