La Botte, once one of the better westside Italian restaurants on Santa Monica and 7th Street in Santa Monica, has shuttered. Chef/owner Stefano De Lorenzo (Piccolo Ristorante), who earned one Michelin star for his plates of Wagyu carpaccio and pistachio pappardelle, posted a note to the restaurant's door that suggests a new project is to come:
After nine years of joy and conviviality, season after season, La Botte Ristorante is now closed. The journey doesn't end here and our next chapter will soon be revealed. We're truly grateful to everyone. Our guest and our team that made this great adventure a nourishing experience for body, heart and spirit.Chef De Lorenzo most recently collaborated with chef Morihiro Onodera of Mori Sushi on a pricey two night Japanese-Italian meal that didn't pack much of a crowd.
