Welcome to Meanwhile, In SGV a regular feature in which TC, our fearless leader in all things San Gabriel Valley, brings word of restaurant openings, closings, and other unsung, curious neighborhood goings on.
1) Alhambra: Belly Buster, severely crippled by an electrical fire started inside the bathroom, will be back to, well, busting bellies on February 12. After the fire last September, owner Ben Zhou estimated two months to rebuild, but the end result was a five-month long shutter of the old-timey sandwich shop.
2) S. El Monte: Nha Hang Lu has flipped into a terriyaki bowl-type establishment named Honey BBQ. 10343 Garvey Ave.
3) Monterey Park: John's Kabab took over Ricardo Diaz's old Dorados, which shuttered last April. The menu is a Mediterranean mix of kababs, falafels, hummus, gyros, and, oddly, fish and chips. 440 S. Atlantic Blvd.
4) Monterey Park. H&H Restaurant has become a Langzhou noodle house slash BBQ skewer shop. H&H is now sporting another ownership change permit. There seems to be no menu changes just yet. 429 W. Garvey Ave.
