Vegan chef Ayinde Howell — formerly of Hillside Quickie's in Seattle, Jivamuktea Cafe in Manhattan, and personal chef to singer India Arie — wants to share his Mac and Yease with the good people of Los Angeles. He's asking for $35k to launch a vegan and gluten-free mac and cheese truck, but with just four days left only $7k is in the bank. Things aren't looking bright for Los Angeles' future of vegan mac and cheese in flavors like balsamic-truffle and buffalo.
If, by some miracle, Howell can raise $28k in the next few days, he promises mac and cheese delivery by truck, and hours of operation daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 to 10 p.m. plus "a late night 4th meal service on Friday and saturday." Sundays will be reserved for the chef's "famous Brooklyn waffle brunch."
