Goin, Silverton, Styne Named JBFA Semifinalists

Today, the James Beard Foundation announced the semifinalists for this year's Restaurant and Chef Awards. This is the "long list," and the finalists will be named on March 18. Of note: Lucques chef Suzanne Goin and Pizzeria Mozza chef Nancy Silverton are both semifinalists in the Outstanding Chef category, Osteria Mozza's Dahlia Narvaez is one of the Outstanding Pastry Chef candidates, Melisse gets a nomination for Outstanding Restaurant, and Caroline Styne is on the long list for Outstanding Restaurateur. Outstanding Wine Program: Spago
Outstanding Service: Lucques, Providence
Outstanding Restaurateur: Caroline Styne (Lucques, AOC, Tavern)
Best Chef West: Josef Centeno (Bäco Mercat), Michael Cimarusti (Providence), Ludo Lefebvre (Trois Mec), David LeFevre (MB Post), Niki Nakayama (n/naka), John Rivera Sedlar (Rivera), Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo (Animal), Ricardo Zarate (Picca)

The awards will take place at a gala event on Monday, May 5 at Lincoln Center.
