Just when it seemed like the day would never come, Cronut® mastermind Dominique Ansel, the man behind the original croissant donut mashup/craze born in Soho, New York, is coming to Los Angeles for his first ever Cronut pop-up outside of the city at Barneys New York at The Grove on March 1. Ansel and his pastry team are flying to Los Angeles three days in advance to prepare and bake Milk & Honey flavored Cronuts, which they will top with a Tahitian vanilla milk ganache, honey jam and lavender sugar, sold at $5 a round. The same price Cronuts sell for in New York but here in Los Angeles the funds go to the Heart of Los Angeles. Fun fact: Former Spago pastry queen Sherry Yard has agreed to help Ansel with the baking. Because why not.
Pastry sales begin at 10 a.m. and will be sold until 2 p.m. or more likely until they run out. [EaterWire]
