Chengdu Taste 2 Encounters Holdups in Rosemead

Permitting and construction snags have prolonged the expansion of red hot Szechuan number Chengdu Taste, with a second restaurant, Chengdu Taste 2, underway on Valley Boulevard in Rosemead. Meanwhile, fueled by the possibly of a new 1,000 square foot kitchen, chef Tony Xu is busily growing his menu and teasing the public with news of a spicy stewed pork gordita. With recent visits by Ruth Reichl (and Jonah Hill), the lines at the original Chengdu Taste just won't quit. Thankfully, the new plaza's design offers plenty of respite for the weary queue, so hopefully there will be no more drive-by eggers at the Rosemead branch. New opening date: April.
