Farm to table and ocean to plate are the names of the games at the Hook & Plow, a beachy place presently soft open in place of Hermosa's Buona Vita Pizzeria. Brian Kelleher and wife Bre, along with twin sisters Lisa and Lauren Cassity, are behind this family-run seafood bistro serving just a limited menu (they add a few dishes each night) at the moment but going whole hog with this list of apps, sandwiches, and composed seafood plates around the middle of next week.
Six months ago Manhattan Beach native chef Johnny Lopez relocated back to Southern California after spending 15 years in Hawaii, most recently serving as the executive chef at Nick's Fishmarket in the Fairmont Kea Lani on Maui. He's now in charge of The Hook & Plow's seafood medley.
The Hook & Plow opens at 4:30 p.m. for dinner Monday through Thursday and at 11:30 a.m. Friday through Sunday. Hours will expand in the future, with weekend brunch to eventually follow at the end of spring. [EaterWire]
